Homecoming

The sun returns;
after long dark wintry nights
of mournful hibernation;
Its rays weak, merely warm;

it shyly kisses the snow covered leaf,
with bated breath, it prays that the leaf lives

the leaf turns over with a radiant smile
welcoming the gentle warmth with goosebumps all over
